The Sassolungo group is formed by many towers and big faces, like a huge cathedral of rock where there are many steep couloirs, very interesting for skiing.
Yesterday we started from the Sella pass and we climbed up to Forcella Sassolungo; after a short descent along the north side, we turned left to climb our main goal: the couloir between Punta Grohmann and Torre Innerkofler. This nice and difficult line (5.2/E3) is not skied very often, but it’s very interesting.
The descent was in good conditions, with a top layer of powder, but with many sections where was easy to feel the icy snow at the bottom.
After the couloir, we climbed up to forcella Cinque Dita to ski down along the opposite side, to go back to the Sella pass and to close this nice loop in the Sassolungo group.
