The “Selvaggio Blu” (wild blue) trekking, on the east coast of Sardinia, has long since established itself as one of the most fascinating and technical routes of its kind. Usually completed in five days, from south to north, it allows you to enter a still wild and original area, overlooking the blue sea that has made this island famous.
In spring and autumn, when temperatures and snow in the Alps do not yet allow hiking, in Sardinia it is the ideal time to walk and climb. Last October, with Alberto (www.albertodegiuli.com) and Cédric (www.montagnesdecorse.com), we accompanied a group of Americans (BAM) along what is often called the Selvaggio Blu Extreme, which goes in the opposite direction, from North to South, and offers more technical stages, with several abseils and some climbing variations.
Weather and climate were excellent and only on the first day we had some light rain, for which we didn’t even put on our waterproof jackets.
Describing the beauty of these places in words is not easy, but perhaps I can do it better through this small selection of photos.
Special thanks to all the participants and colleagues, but especially to Albi for organising this trip and also for the beautiful days of climbing together before and after the trek.
Goodbye Sardinia, see you next spring!
