In March, April and most of May we were confined home because of the Covid-19. At first without almost the possibility to go out, then only in the immediate vicinity of the house, then the municipality, the region and finally, only recently, throughout Italy and even abroad, albeit with many limitations.
During this period, looking out of the window, we observed what has perhaps been the most beautiful spring for years for skiing in the Dolomites: lots of snow, good temperatures, safe conditions and almost two months of sunshine until the beginning of May.
Pity we couldn’t take advantage of it.
From the same window we then saw the snow melt quickly, which left room for greenery and flowers, especially thanks to the high temperatures and rain at the beginning of May. We almost went directly to a summer situation, until the weather broke in these first rainy days of June.
During this period, besides observing and photographing from the window, we explored the surroundings of the house, those places that could be reached on foot and where the snow had already melted. Then, when we had the chance, we went a bit further away, but always in the surroundings and looking for areas that were not very frequented.
We don’t know what the summer will be like, if tourism will resume and how it will be possible to travel again. Surely this forced stop has given us even more desire to move and know new places, but we will do it in a different way and, I hope, with more awareness.
