The images of our skitouring trip to Etna at the end of March 2018.
Last year, with my friend and colleague Jim, we tried to ski Etna, but we were not very lucky with the weather…
This time, after a first day of very bad weather, dedicated to the visit of Taormina, we took advantage of the new snow and managed to make two days of good skiing.
The first day we crossed the whole mountain from South to North, climbing the North East crater, the highest point of the volcano, and then descending to Pizzi Daneri and the Citelli refuge.
The second day we climbed the steaming Central Crater to then descend along the wild west side.
Once again we were fascinated by this incredible place and the great hospitality of the locals.
Etna is the highest active volcano in Europe and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013
