Unfortunately, this ski season has also started with little snow in the Dolomites and more generally throughout the Alps, except for the westernmost area, particularly in Piedmont.
While the situation on the slopes prepared with artificial snow has always been excellent, given the low temperatures, outside these areas the snow cover has always been insufficient or almost insufficient for skiing. On the contrary, for mountaineering ascents with ice axes and crampons, ice climbing and even via ferrata and rock climbing, thanks to favourable weather and compact (or absent) snow, conditions have often been excellent. All that remains is to enjoy what nature has to offer us at this time and postpone the beautiful skiing descents we would all like to take until later.
Here are some pictures from the last few weeks, with a few ski days and several climbs.
